There will be a variety of facilities at the new stadium based in and around the ground itself.

The Community Stadium will have 8,000 seats, an increase on the original planned capacity. It will act as the base for York City FC and York City Knights RFLC for:

  • League / cup fixture
  • Community activities
  • Offices / boardroom / administration
  • Hospitality

The Stadium itself will have the required four stands and has been designed to ensure there are minimal gaps between each stand, thus helping to keep the atmosphere within the Stadium.

Ground share facilities

It will meet the operational requirements of a ‘ground share’ home facility between a football league team and a rugby league (championship) team by providing:

  • York City FC and York Knights with their own exclusive boardroom and associated office space.
  • A fibre sand reinforced pitch, specifically designed to accommodate both a football and rugby season in the same year.

Hospitality facilities

The hospitality area will be designed to be flexible to maximise income generation and will meet the changing needs of the clubs on match days and on non match days, provide catering support for the NHS Trust, and accommodate any hires for training, meetings, conferences and seminars.

The following hospitality suites have been provided:

  • Main lounge with the capacity for 200 covers in a banqueting style with a view overlooking the pitch.
  • Secondary hospitality suite with the capacity for 100 cover in a banqueting style, with central view out towards the pitch.
  •  Director’s Lounge with the capacity for 100 cover in a banqueting style, with central view out towards the pitch and direct access to two boardrooms.
  • Five hospitality boxes with the capacity to host 10 persons within each.

Match day

The hospitality facilities will create a memorable match day experience at the stadium. The hospitality guests would meet at a designated reception deck within the Stadium Entrance / Community hub, before heading up to the second floor to an open plan reception foyer, which provides the opportunity for ‘Meet and Greet’ before entering the individual hospitality suites.

Fan Zone

An external match fan zone has been created at the South East stadium entrance, a covered external space which could be utilised by the supporters to enjoy the build up to the match atmosphere. The area providing a feature concession facility and access to the East and South seating deck

Players Facilities

The match day club facilities have been located on the ground floor, providing the players, coaches and supporting staff with excellent changing spaces. The facilities will be accessed through the main Stadium Entrance / Community Hub or via private entrance route to the North of the main stand. The changing rooms have been located either side of a central players tunnel with adjacent access to doping control, coaches and treatment room. In addition, the changing facilities are adjoining to the non-match supporting rooms included kit room, boot room and club offices.

Official Facilities

The match official facilities are located adjacent to the team changing rooms and directly off the player’s tunnel. There are two changing rooms provided with individual sanitary, shower and bench seating within each.

Sports Team Offices

The stadium layouts allow for individual offices for both York City FC and York City Knights RLFC. The identified managers, coaches and youth academy offices have provided and located adjacent to the players changing area. In addition, the Club Community facilities have been located on ground level with good links to the player’s facilities and the central hub. The day to day operational offices of both clubs are located on the first floor.

Media Conference Room

The conference room is located within the East Stand on ground floor, providing direct access to the seating deck, external concourse and private (completely separate) access route from the players’ area. The room incorporates a raised platform to the front and rear, for the players and cameras respectively, a screened off press work bench area is provided with loose furniture utilised throughout to allow flexibility in its non-match day uses.
